In the City of Lakes, creeks, and Hypothermia

Conveniently, we're all from Minnesota, so we met up for our long run over the break. It dropped about 10 degrees that day, and taking even one picture was painful, so here it is. It was slow going running on slush-over-ice, but we made it around Lake Harriet and down the creek and back with no broken ankles. Glad to be back in Sea-town, where the rain looks benign next to this!

Benefit Success!!!

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CAME & SUPPORTED OUR EVENT EFFORT on TUESDAY! We initiated our sixth week training with our first fundraising event and it was a huge success. Eric (who opened) & The Loose Digits put on an awesome show, people were screaming in the crowd for our raffle prizes, and so many people showed up & gave generously to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. We raised nearly $1300 in total. The highlights for me were:
* the dancing baby,
* the older couple we didn't know who saw the event posted on Facebook (among many people we didn't know who heard about it through people/publicity) who came because it was for a good cause and they like Bluegrass,
* our friend Lucas helping set-up AND clean-up,
* Studer raffle-soliciting,
* the friend of a friend who came up and told me she came out on a Tuesday (despite not initially wanting to) because she heard it was for LLS. She then told me she had had leukemia as a little girl, and told me how excited and impressed she was by us,
* Lucie's friend who brought her mom who ran her first marathon last year at the age of 50! If she can do that, we can do it in half those years.
* and of course: all the beer got drunk.

CRAZY WEATHER!

Hi Friends-

Here are a few pics from the recent snowstorm/windstorm that hit Seattle over the weekend. We had a fun but very very cold practice running along the water at Alki beach in West Seattle. It was a good day, we are a month into training now and well on our way to meeting our fundraising goal. I'd like to echo Meg and say THANK YOU to everyone who has given so far. We have been very overwhelmed and moved by your generous donations, words of encouragement and personal stories.
