We're Back!

Sorry all- this is LONG overdue!

The race is over and we are home again.

First off THANKS AGAIN. With your help, Meghan, Siri and I raised over $20,000. We are very excited about this and wanted to extend our gratitude to you one last time.

Our trip went well. Race day was hot and painful (roughly 85 degrees out!) which made it slow going for us. Thankfully, sponges and water stops along the way made it nearly tolerable. We finished and happily, counting ourselves lucky that we were not one of the many folks who became ill due to the heat. The course weaved in and outside the city, running mostly along the Vltava river, crossing the famous Charles Bridge and ended with a celebration in the Old Town Square.

After a day of recovery and wandering around Prague we headed down to the Adriatic Sea and spent five days in Croatia! Turquoise water, an ancient palace, friendly people and sunshine. What a wonderful trip and a worthwhile cause. See pics below...

Startline....

Happy running!

IT's TIME!

WOW. It is hard to believe that in just a few short days we'll be running through the streets of Prague, marking the end of this long but incredibly fun and rewarding project.

THANK YOU to all of you who have given us so much support, both emotionally and financially. We are excited to tell all of you that, collectively, we have surpassed our fundraising goal of $20,000!

This really couldn't have happened without any of you... we'll be thinking of you and honoring yours and our loved ones this Sunday at the race.

Thank you again,

Lucie, Siri and Meg

Almost There

Thank you to everyone who made it out in wet Seattle on St. Patricks Day to our Scavenger Hunt Fundraiser! We had an amazing loyal turnout of friends who came fully prepared for anything - as well as the first team that showed up whom we'd never met but heard about the event that sounded like "fun for a good cause." A special thanks in particular for Dylan & Sarah who came up with the entire list (bones, underwear tags, 5-food-group-hot-dog-sculptures and all) and helped us plan/prepare, as well as staff at The Dock in Fremont who donated "refreshments" to our scavenge-hunted participants. In total we raised just over $450, and we are only a few hundred dollars away from our cumulative goal of $18,600. We have one month left, and while 2/3 of us are nursing minor injurious setbacks, we are almost there. THANK YOU ALL!

Ok Friends- This is our is it, our final fundraising push...

Spring into Spring Scavenger Hunt 2008.

WHAT: A slightly more adult version of the most popular collegiate tradition started by my roomie Dylan and friends, the Scavenger Hunt (explanation for uninitiated below). Ring in the spring with the boldest, most fab-tastic, bad as it can be (in the oh-so-good way) Scavenger Hunt Fundraiser of the season. Costumes or St. Patty's day attire welcome (but NOT necessary). Come Prepared.

Teams of Three will be completing various tasks, searching out specific items, and testing their collective knowledge, creativity, and ability to humiliate oneself in the effort to finish a list. Prizes will be awarded for Fastest, Slowest, Most Creative, Least Committed, Best Costumes, Best and Worst Prepared, Least Likely to Develop Cankles, Most Likely to run for President, and of course, Best Smile. You DO NOT need a team to come- we'll help you find teammates of you need.

WHERE: Fremont area, beginning and ending at the top of the hill in Gasworks Park.

WHEN: Saturday, March 15th. Check-in is at 4:00 pm, hunt begins at 5:00 pm.

HOW MUCH: $20 per person.
We're coming close to our fundraising goal, but this is it! Our final push! Bring cash to the event. You will have an absolute blast, feel good about it, and there will even be a party at the scaveng-tastic bar, the DOCK, in Fremont post-hunt.

HOW: It's going to be an adventure, so come as prepared as you feel comfortable. Winning teams have come dressed in tights and headlamps, with Spanish dictionaries in hand, but winning teams have also humiliated just such preparation by good planning, quick wits, and a healthy dose of kickassedness.

Please pass this info on to your friends, family and co-workers. We have a goal of 50 Teams.

A brief but important history. Four such hunts occured during college, and they were a rowdy success. Examples of items included on previous lists are as follows: a freestanding volcano of bacon bits at least 4 inches high, getting in a "foot race" with a stranger (and winning), and crayon cartoons of the trials and tribulations of the 43rd President of the United States. It has grown into quite an event. The Spring into Spring 2008 hunt list is safely and securely locked in the "Scav Hunt Steering Committee Vault O' Secrets." (AKA even Lucie, Meg and Siri have no idea what it will be...).

Thanks for all your support so far! Hope to see you there!

Lucie, Siri and Meg

GORGEOUS.

Yep- it's February. But you could have fooled us! Meghan went to Hawaii for the week to get some sunshine and Siri and I stayed behind. Luckily we got some sunshine of our own!

The pics are from our run with the team out on Alki Point. What a gorgeous morning. Top: Team Stretch. Mid: Siri and I on cloud nine. (note: that's our mentor Mike on the right.) Bottom: Mountains!

News: Thanks again to all of you who have so generously donated so far. We are getting incredibly close to reaching our goal. If you haven't and would still like to there is still time. Just click on one of our links to the right.

ALSO, you local Seattle folks can mark your calender. On March 15th we will be having our last, grand finale SCAVENGER HUNT FUNDRAISER. Details soon to follow! So get your running shoes ready....

V-day race

After our 10-miler on Saturday, we ran an easy 5k around Greenlake on Sunday. Siri apparently was told it was a costume race. Lucie and Meg couldn't find her for the first half of the race, primarily because they didn't know to look for hair that was literally the color of light.

Groundhog Day

We had a fantastic morning run along Eliot Bay, around the Magnolia bluffs, up to Discovery Park and back. Apparently there will be 6 more weeks of winter... we think... anyway, it was SUNNY, a Groundhog Day miracle! The beautiful weather made our 9 mile run feel like 5--and today marks the halfway point of our training for the marathon. Cheers all 'round; that tiny shot of vitamin D has done wonders for our moods today : )

Cross-training in the high country

This Sunday was outta-Seattle gorgeous, so we headed up to the mountains to get even closer to that thing called the Sun. We had showshoes; the dogs did not, which meant their workout was probably better than ours... Still, whatever the physical benefit, the mental rejuvenation alone was undoubtedly worth the drive.

KEGS FOR A CURE Happy Hour Benefit. Thursday 1/10.

Hi friends!

Here we go again...

Announcing our next event: Join us for Happy Hour at Rock Bottom Brewery in downtown Seattle (5th and Union, Rainier Square Building) this coming Thursday January 10th between 5:30 and 8pm. Rock Bottom will be launching it's new seasonal brew, Frostbite Strong Ale with $2 Pints and all proceeds going directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
So come, bring your friends, have a drink or two, (or three!) and help us get closer to our fundraising goal. Hope to see you all there.

We're back!

After each enjoying a lovely visit home to the cold cold midwest visiting family over the holidays, we are happy to say we are back! And enjoying the balmy, tropical warmth of the Pacific NW. No, ok- that is a bit of an overstatement, but it has felt good! Training continues and goes well. Soon we will move from our base building phase into building more strength. Should be fun!

While, wishing everyone the happiest New Year, we would also like to announce that collectively we are well over halfway to our fundraising goal. THANK YOU so much for all your support. We have been completely overwhelmed by your generosity.
